The Kaaterskill Amphitheater is one of the best views in the area. It’s located along Hawkeye Ledge, which is populated with rare Pitch Pine trees. It’s not as difficult as other areas, but you do have to climb one ledge to reach it. You should be careful when approaching the rim of the cliff, as you could fall off the steep bank and into the water.
The Kaaterskill Amphitheater and Hawkeye Ledge trail are not very common places to hike. It’s not as difficult as other places in the Catskills, but you do have to be careful. The trail can be wet in the Spring, and it isn’t always easy to wade through Mountain Laurel. A great post!
