Abalone Cove Beach

Hiking Trails
Located between Lunada Bay and Bluff Cove, Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve is a bluff top park owned and maintained by Palos Verdes Estates. The trails are a great way to explore the natural beauty of the peninsula. The park features picnic tables and a fresh ocean breeze.
There are three main trails that are popular among visitors. The first is the Seascape Trail. This 0.7 mile trail crosses scenic coastal bluffs north of Point Vicente Lighthouse. The trail has excellent views of the lighthouse, the coastline, and Catalina Island. The trail is suitable for all ages.
The second trail is the Terranea Discovery Trail. This 2-mile out and back trail begins at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. The trail offers great ocean views and is perfect for anyone with a little more time on their hands.
The third trail is the McBride Trail. This trail provides panoramic views of the Vanderlip Estate and the Portuguese Bend Nature Preserve. This trail is a moderately difficult hike.
Interpretative Center
Located on top of a bluff, the Interpretative Center at Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve is the perfect place to see the whales during whale watch season. The Point Vicente Interpretive Center has educational exhibits on the history and natural features of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Its mission is to bring to light the rich history of this area. The interpretive center is 10,000 square feet and houses exhibits that will bring you closer to the area.
The Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve features a half-mile cliff trail that leads to Lunada Bay, where visitors can enjoy bay views. There are also tide pools to explore. The park is located between Lunada Bay and Bluff Cove.
Point Vicente Interpretive Center is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Parking is available along the streets of Palos Verdes Drive West and Paseo Del Mar. There are also public parking lots nearby.
